Our History
The MBB story started in late 2015, when a small group of paramedic’s nurses and doctors came together to support several remote communities access basic primary health care. The first team deployed in 2015 travelling into a remote Himalayan community where the first health post was established in a borrowed ‘UN’ tent. This health post is now part of a network of four remote clinical posts. The platform soon expanded to provide remote primary health care solutions, health education, and health infrastructure projects in remote and extreme environments.
Following five years of sustained service in five countries, the global shutdowns in 2020 caused a dramatic evacuation of all overseas personnel and caused the platforms income streams to dry up. Rising from the proverbial remnants in 2021, Medics Beyond Borders was created to continue that legacy to ensure that health care access and health education remains available to everyone.
